A U.S. appeals court has permitted thousands of lawsuits to move forward against major tech companies, including Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram), Alphabet's Google (YouTube), ByteDance's TikTok, and Snap Inc.'s Snapchat. The lawsuits allege that these companies designed their products to be addictive to young users. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an appeal by Meta and TikTok, ruling they had appealed too early.
