HHS Ends Federal Medicaid and CHIP Funding for Gender-Affirming Procedures for Minors

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), announced a final rule to stop federal Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funds from being used for 'sex-rejecting procedures' on children and youth. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. stated that these interventions carry serious risks and lack sufficient evidence of clinical benefit.
