Federal Judge Rules Pentagon Illegally Stalled Wind Power Projects Near Military Facilities

A federal judge in Oregon ruled that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) violated the Administrative Procedure Act and Congressional instructions by delaying and then halting its review of proposed wind-power projects near military facilities. The ruling, in favor of 20 wind-power developers, could affect as many as 108 proposed projects in about 20 states, valued at approximately $62 billion. The Pentagon had claimed these projects threatened national security but offered little proof.
