HHS Report Exposes Fraudulent Insurance Coding for Sex-Rejecting Procedures on Minors, Refers Cases to DOJ and OIG

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today released a report titled 'Wolves in White Coats: How Doctors and Hospitals Pushed and Profited from the Fraud of “Gender Medicine.”' The report examines insurance coding practices, financial incentives, and the provision of sex-rejecting procedures for minors. It draws on various sources, including nationwide insurance claims analyses, identifying approximately $50 million in claims for puberty blockers using endocrine disorder codes and nearly $11 million for patients aged 13-17 using precocious puberty codes. Vice President JD Vance and HHS Secretary Kennedy have referred identified hospitals and clinics to the Department of Justice and the HHS Office of Inspector General for possible federal law violations.
