US Department of Transportation Allocates $5.3 Billion for Rail Infrastructure and Amtrak Fleet

The Federal Railroad Administration is investing $5.3 billion in nationwide rail projects. This funding, partly from canceled California high-speed rail savings, will enhance safety by closing and upgrading grade crossings, overhaul 41 locomotives, and acquire 43 new Amtrak trainsets.
