Congress Enters August Recess with Key Manufacturing and Infrastructure Legislation Advancing

The U.S. Congress has begun its August recess, having made progress on several manufacturing and infrastructure priorities. Notably, the Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026 (S. 4429/H.R. 8730), which aims to prohibit connected vehicles linked to foreign adversaries due to national security concerns, cleared the Senate Commerce Committee in July. Additionally, both the House and Senate have advanced the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) 2026 through committee, and provisions of the SHIPS for America Act, focused on rebuilding the U.S. maritime industrial base, were included in the House's version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
