U.S. Carries Out Three Executions in a Single Day for the First Time in 16 Years

The United States executed three death row inmates on August 13, 2026, marking the first time in approximately 16 years that three executions have been carried out on a single day. Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez, 70, was executed in Oklahoma for killing his girlfriend, becoming the 20th inmate executed under Governor Kevin Stitt. Anthony Darrell Hines, 66, was executed in Tennessee for fatally stabbing a motel housekeeper. The third execution was also carried out as scheduled in Alabama.
