Federal Judge Orders U.S. Government to Refund Billions in Unlawfully Collected Tariffs

A federal trade judge has issued an order directing U.S. Customs and Border Protection to refund unlawfully collected tariffs in thousands of cases. This action could allow companies, including NTN USA Corp., to recover an estimated $130 billion in duties paid under tariffs that the U.S. Supreme Court previously ruled unconstitutional in February under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The order specifically authorizes CBP to "reliquidate" entries without regard to IEEPA duties.
