Federal Judge Orders Refund of Unlawfully Collected Tariffs, Potentially Billions to Companies

A federal judge has directed the U.S. government to refund unlawfully collected tariffs in thousands of cases, a move that could enable companies like NTN USA Corp. to recover significant duties. This order follows a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that found the tariffs, imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to be unconstitutional. More than 3,700 companies have filed claims seeking refunds from an estimated $130 billion in duties.
