USPS Warns Thousands of Post Offices at Risk of Closure Without Congressional Intervention

Postmaster General David Steiner has stated that the U.S. Postal Service may be forced to close thousands of unprofitable post offices, reduce service levels, and raise prices if Congress does not act on proposed changes to address the agency's urgent financial crisis. The USPS is seeking an appropriation to invest in the service and changes to benefit plans and borrowing authority.
