Federal Judge Denies Tohono O'odham Nation's Request to Halt Border Wall Construction Along U.S.-Mexico Border

A federal judge has ruled to allow the construction of 62 miles of new border wall to proceed along the southern boundary of the Tohono O'odham Nation in Arizona, rejecting the tribe's arguments that the construction would constitute illegal trespassing and effectively shrink their reservation without congressional approval. The ruling cited a 1907 proclamation by President Theodore Roosevelt that reserved 60 feet of land along the international boundary for federal control.
