Justice Department Launches New National Fraud Enforcement Division

The U.S. Department of Justice has officially launched its National Fraud Enforcement Division (NFED) today, August 24, 2026. Led by Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald, this new division aims to enhance federal fraud prosecution through advanced data analysis and a "whole-of-government" strategy, with plans for 500 staff. This initiative is expected to accelerate investigations and intensify enforcement efforts against fraud.
