President Donald Trump issued an emergency executive order banning the acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation of certain foreign-produced electrical equipment in the U.S. bulk-power system. The order targets equipment from suppliers with ties to 24 countries, broadly defined to include transformers, inverters, and circuit breakers, to prevent sabotage, unauthorized access, or supply disruptions to the electricity grid. The Department of Energy has 120 days to publish implementing rules.
