DHS Report Alleges Biden-Era FEMA Denied Disaster Aid Based on Political Bias

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a report on August 27, 2026, from its Office of Inspector General (OIG) detailing findings of political bias during the Biden Administration. The report alleges that some households in Florida were denied disaster assistance after Hurricane Milton due to displaying pro-Trump signs. DHS stated that FEMA has already investigated and addressed these past practices, and three individuals were terminated. FEMA has also shifted its approach to disaster aid, moving away from door-to-door outreach to fixed locations to prevent politicization.
