Supreme Court to Review Federal Preemption in Climate Change Lawsuits Against Fossil Fuel Companies

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case determining whether federal law preempts Boulder County, Colorado, and other state and local governments from suing oil and gas companies for their contributions to global climate change. The fossil fuel companies, supported by the Trump Administration, argue the lawsuits are preempted by the Clean Air Act.
