EPA and Army Corps Propose Rule to Strip Clean Water Act Protections from Most Wetlands and Streams

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have proposed a new rule that would remove Clean Water Act protections from the majority of the nation's wetlands and streams. The proposal would primarily protect only waters that flow daily and permanently flooded wetlands, potentially leaving at least 94% of continental U.S. wetlands and over three-quarters of streams vulnerable to pollution or destruction.
