Texas Receives Federal Approval to Extend SNAP Replacement Benefits for Storm-Affected Bexar County Residents

Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) received federal approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Administration (USDA) to extend the deadline for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients in Bexar County to apply for replacement benefits due to recent storms. The deadline for reporting food loss has been extended from 10 to 20 days, with recipients having until September 17, 2026, to apply.
