House Education and Workforce Committee Requests GAO Studies on University Tenure, Credit Transfers, and AI in Admissions

The House Committee on Education and Workforce, led by Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI), has requested three Government Accountability Office (GAO) studies. These studies will examine significant issues affecting students, colleges, and taxpayers, including state and public university tenure reforms, barriers students face when transferring college credits, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in college admissions and scholarship decisions. The Committee seeks greater insight into how these practices impact institutional accountability, college costs, and student success, especially given the billions of dollars in federal student aid provided annually.
