Department of Homeland Security Amends Regulations to Widen Green Card Registration for U.S.-Born Children of Foreign Government Employees

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued an interim final rule that amends existing regulations, allowing noncitizen children born in the United States to foreign government employees to register as lawful permanent residents. This rule aligns with recent Executive Order 14418 and broadens the scope of the policy. The interim final rule went into effect on September 4, 2026.
