Department of Justice Files Final Lawsuits Challenging State Laws Granting In-State Tuition to Undocumented Individuals

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed its final four lawsuits against Hawaiʻi, the District of Columbia, Arkansas, and Utah, challenging laws that provide in-state tuition and financial assistance to individuals without legal permission to be in the country. The DOJ argues these laws unconstitutionally discriminate against U.S. citizens and conflict with federal law. This brings the total to 25 such lawsuits filed by the Justice Department.
