Department of Justice Lodges Proposed Settlement for Lead Paint Violations Under Toxic Substances Control Act

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on September 9 lodged a proposed Stipulation and Order of Settlement with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit, United States of America v. Estate of Harry D. Silverstein, seeks injunctive relief under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992 for alleged lead paint safety regulation violations. The settlement requires the Estate to pay a $4.0 million administrative penalty.
