Congress Returns to Session with No Expected Action on AI Regulation or Defense Funding

Both chambers of Congress have returned to Capitol Hill for a brief session before the midterm elections, but significant legislative action on artificial intelligence (AI) regulation or additional defense funding for the war in Iran is not anticipated. Lawmakers have already agreed to fund the government through December 11, postponing the need for bipartisan agreement on annual appropriations bills.
