Senators Kaine and Warner Introduce Bill to Address Overcrowding and Safety at Reagan National Airport

U.S. Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner (D-VA) have introduced the DCA Air Safety Act, a proposal aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing safety at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). The legislation follows the National Transportation Safety Board's investigation into a deadly 2025 crash near the airport. The bill seeks to cap hourly arrivals at no more than 28 aircraft per consecutive 60-minute period, down from the current 30, and reduce flight clustering, with changes to be implemented by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over five years.
