DHS Announces First-Ever Removal of Alien Terrorist Using United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the removal of Nazira Haji Zada, an Afghan national, after she conceded to being an alien terrorist in the first case ever brought before the United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court (ATRC). Zada was involved in a plot to commit an ISIS-inspired mass shooting on Election Day 2024. This landmark case utilized classified information and marks the first time the ATRC, established decades ago, has been used.
