The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requesting an additional $30 billion from Congress to achieve its modernization goals for air traffic control systems and aviation infrastructure. This request, which is $10 billion more than previously estimated by the Department of Transportation, aims to upgrade air traffic controller safety separation tools, build more resilient telecommunications systems, and replace airport facilities and runways. Senator Eric Schmitt introduced the Modern Skies Act to support this plan, which has garnered backing from nearly 60 organizations.
