Federal Judge Rules UnitedHealth Must Face Shareholder Lawsuit by CalPERS

A federal judge has ruled that UnitedHealth Group Inc., the largest U.S. health insurer, must defend itself against a lawsuit brought by major shareholder California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The lawsuit alleges that UnitedHealth deceived investors about financial transactions that artificially boosted earnings by $3.3 billion in 2024. The ruling allows CalPERS to proceed with claims that UnitedHealth made strategic omissions and misleading statements regarding these transactions.
