Department of Energy Funds Alaska Railbelt Transmission Project for National Defense and Grid Reliability

The U.S. Department of Energy announced its intention to use Defense Production Act funding to develop a second high-voltage connection in Alaska, the Beluga-Healy Transmission Project. This $418 million investment aims to strengthen grid infrastructure critical for national defense, improve reliability, and reduce electricity costs for approximately 75% of Alaska's population.
