DOJ Dismantles North Korean IT Worker Network Exploiting U.S. Companies
The U.S. Department of Justice and FBI announced 'Operation Lonestar Roundup,' which disrupted a major illicit network of North Korean IT workers unlawfully accessing U.S. corporate systems using stolen or falsified American identities. Federal agents executed searches of over 40 residences in Texas, seizing 187 laptops and KVM devices used as 'laptop farms' by Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) IT workers. This operation aims to cut off revenue streams the North Korean government uses to fund its weapons programs and protect U.S. national security and businesses from foreign exploitation.
