DHS Orders Removal of Chinese AI from Federal Civilian Agencies IT Systems
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has banned the artificial intelligence (AI) application DeepSeek from all civilian agency IT systems, citing national security concerns. The order also prohibits agencies from using third-party products or services developed with DeepSeek implementations and from purchasing products or services from DeepSeek's developer and its affiliates. DHS stated that DeepSeek's models 'present multiple threat vectors' and could lead to the transfer of sensitive data to China or contain malware.
