Bipartisan Bill Introduced to Strengthen Oversight of Navy's Shipyard Modernization Program

Congresswomen Jen Kiggans (VA-02) and Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) have introduced the Shipyard Modernization Sustainment Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at strengthening Congressional oversight of the Navy's Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP). The legislation mandates independent reviews by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to assess the program's cost, progress, and timeline, including annual reviews, congressional briefings, and a final report by 2031.
