Federal Judge Halts DOJ Pressure Campaign on Election Officials Nationwide

A federal judge has issued a sweeping emergency order blocking the Trump administration's aggressive tactics to pressure election officials across the country, including demands to segregate ballots and threats of criminal prosecution. U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson stated that while the administration claims its actions are to prevent unlawful voting by noncitizens, they are likely to interfere with election administration and disenfranchise lawful voters. The order prohibits the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security from demanding ballot segregation, voter roll purges, or halting ballot processing in any state.
