Georgia Implements Historic Burn Ban as Wildfires Intensify Across State

The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued its first mandatory burn ban in state history, covering 91 counties, in response to severe drought and increased wildfire activity. Multiple large wildfires are currently active across southeast Georgia and northeast Florida, with one blaze in Clinch County exceeding 16,000 acres. The escalating situation has prompted evacuations, road closures, and the destruction of at least 42 structures in Brantley County.
