Elevated Fire Risk Issued for New Mexico and Texas Panhandle

The Storm Prediction Center has designated an 'Extremely Critical Fire Weather Area' for parts of eastern New Mexico and the western Texas Panhandle. This alert, effective for April 26, is coupled with Red Flag Warnings. Strong southwest winds and very low relative humidity are creating conditions highly conducive to rapid wildfire spread in these regions.
