India Meteorological Department Issues Orange Alerts for Heavy Rain, Thundersqualls, and Heatwave Conditions

The India Meteorological Department has issued orange alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across Northeast and Eastern India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Thundersqualls with winds up to 70 km/h are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Concurrently, an intense heatwave with temperatures reaching 40-45°C is affecting Northwest and Central India, with warnings of further increases.
