Typhoon Jangmi Makes Landfall in Japan, Triggers Flood Alerts
Typhoon Jangmi made landfall in Wakayama Prefecture, western Japan, on Wednesday morning, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) to issue a temporary Level 5 Emergency Warning for flooding of the Koza River. Torrential rain is expected along the Pacific side of western and eastern Japan, with up to 200 millimeters forecast in Kanto-Koshin and Tokai regions, and 120 millimeters in Tohoku, through Thursday morning. Flood warnings are in place for several rivers in Tokyo.
