WMO Forecasts Developing El Niño, Increasing Global Extreme Weather Threats

The World Meteorological Organization has issued a warning regarding the imminent development of an El Niño event, with an 80% likelihood of it emerging by August 2026. This climatic phenomenon is projected to alter global temperature and precipitation patterns. Consequently, the risk of extreme weather events, such as heatwaves, droughts, and floods, is expected to rise worldwide.
