Gulf of Mexico Monitored for Tropical System, Heavy Rain and Flood Threat

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a low-pressure system in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, which has the potential to develop into a short-lived tropical storm. This system is expected to bring significant rainfall, posing a high risk of widespread flash, urban, and river flooding across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Coastal flooding and gusty winds are also anticipated. Tropical storm watches or warnings could be issued as early as Tuesday.
