France Issues Orange Heatwave Alert, Potential for Record Temperatures

Météo-France has placed 61 departments under an orange heatwave alert as a severe heatwave impacts the country. Temperatures are projected to reach up to 42°C, potentially setting a new national record for the hottest day. There is also a possibility of the alert escalating to red, the highest level, and a risk of violent storms. This event is being compared to the intense heatwave of August 2003.
