Japan Meteorological Agency Warns of Life-Threatening Landslides and Flooding in Kyushu
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued warnings for a rapidly increasing risk of life-threatening landslides and flooding across the Kyushu region due to extremely heavy rainfall. A linear rainband alert is in effect for the Satsuma area of Kagoshima Prefecture. Nagasaki Prefecture observed over 50 mm/hour of rain, and Satsumasendai City recorded 70.5 mm in one hour. Forecasts predict 24-hour rainfall totals of up to 300 mm in Shikoku and 250 mm in southern Kyushu through Thursday noon.
