France Grapples with Extended Heatwave and Storm Alerts

French authorities have expanded a red heat alert across 72 departments, with temperatures anticipated to reach 40°C, following record-breaking heat. Concurrently, several western and southwestern departments are under orange alerts for severe storms, expecting heavy rain, strong winds, and hail. The extreme weather has already caused disruptions, including halted train services and school closures.
