Germany Faces Severe Thunderstorms and Continued Extreme Heat
The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) reports severe thunderstorms in parts of northern Germany this morning (June 28, 2026), with heavy rainfall (around 30 l/sqm in a short time), hail, and severe gales to hurricane-force gusts (100-120 km/h). The risk of severe weather is expected to decrease during the morning. Later, especially in the eastern half and isolated in the west, there is a risk of locally severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall (up to 40 l/sqm in a short time), severe gales (up to 100 km/h), and hail (around 3 cm). Extreme heat stress continues in almost all parts of the country.
