Dangerous Heatwave and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Issued Across Central and Eastern Canada

A stubborn heat dome is causing dangerous temperatures across much of Canada, with heat warnings in effect for most of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Daytime highs are in the mid-30s with humidex values near 45°C. The hot and humid conditions are expected to persist into the weekend. Severe thunderstorms are also a threat in parts of Northern Ontario and the Maritimes, with warnings for strong wind gusts (up to 110 km/h), large hail, heavy rain (exceeding 40 mm), and a risk of tornadoes in New Brunswick. Widespread power outages have been reported in Ontario and Quebec due to severe thunderstorms.
