Widespread Extreme Heatwave Continues Across Central and Eastern United States
An extreme heatwave is ongoing across much of the central and eastern United States, with nearly half of the country (180 million people) under a 'major' or 'extreme' heat risk. Temperatures are expected to reach between 100–110 °F (38–43 °C) in many areas, with heat index values potentially reaching 100 to 110°F, and locally as high as 115°F. Overnight temperatures are offering little relief, remaining in the 70s°F.
