France is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, prompting red and orange alerts across a majority of its departments. This follows June 2026 being recorded as the hottest June in the country since 1947. The prolonged high temperatures are also contributing to an elevated risk of forest fires, particularly in the Southwest and around the Gulf of Lion.
