Deadly Thunderstorms, Winds, and Flooding Hit Central and Southern China
Thunderstorms and strong winds killed at least eight people and injured 275 in Hubei province, central China, on Monday, July 6, 2026. Heavy rains and flooding also resulted in two deaths in Guangxi, southern China, and prompted authorities in Nanning to raise the flood control emergency response to the highest level after dam breaches. Additionally, a landslide trapped 33 people in Tanchang County, Gansu, on July 7, with 18 rescued.
