France Issues Orange Heatwave Alerts for 67 Departments Amid High Wildfire Risk
Météo-France has placed 67 departments on an orange heat alert, with temperatures expected to reach 41°C (105.8°F) in some areas. An additional 40 departments face a high wildfire risk, and five are at very high risk. The fire in the Pyrenees-Orientales has already consumed over 4,900 hectares. The orange heatwave alert remains in effect for Paris and the Île-de-France region for July 8 and 9, 2026.
