Environment Canada Issues Heat and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings/Watches Across Several Regions

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued several weather alerts as of July 9, 2026. Yellow Heat Warnings are in effect for Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, and Moosonee. Yellow Severe Thunderstorm Watches have been issued for areas including Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park, Big Trout Lake - Kasabonika, Ignace - English River, Seine River Village - Mine Centre, Summer Beaver - Wunnummin Lake - Kingfisher Lake, and Upsala - Raith. Additionally, Yellow Air Quality Warnings are active for Fraser Canyon (north and south), North Harrison Lake, Brochet, Leaf Rapids, Lynn Lake, Pukatawagan, and Tadoule Lake. A severe thunderstorm watch was also issued for much of southwestern Saskatchewan on July 8, 2026, with conditions favorable for strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain. A heat wave is expected to begin Friday afternoon in southwestern Saskatchewan, with humidex values potentially approaching 45 on Sunday, and a tornado watch was issued for parts of west-central Saskatchewan.
