Super Typhoon Bavi Poses Catastrophic Threat to East Asia, Disrupting Travel in Japan, Taiwan, and China

Super Typhoon Bavi has strengthened into one of the largest and most powerful storms in decades, reaching Category 5-equivalent strength. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued severe weather warnings for the Sakishima Islands, forecasting violent wind gusts up to 252 km/h, over 300 mm of rainfall, and ocean waves exceeding 10 meters. Major aviation disruptions are occurring across Okinawa, with the storm also threatening Taiwan and eastern China.
