Large and Very Strong Typhoon No. 9 (Bavi) is tracking towards Japan's Sakishima Islands, with the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issuing severe weather warnings. Forecast conditions include violent wind gusts up to 252 km/h (157 mph), rainfall exceeding 300 mm (11.8 inches), dangerous ocean waves rising above 10 meters (33 feet), and storm surge.
