Dangerous Heat Wave to Spread Across Western and Central US, Threatening Records
A dangerous and widespread heat wave is forecast to develop across the Intermountain West and Plains, bringing temperatures above 38°C (100°F) and isolated highs up to 43°C (110°F). The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) forecasts widespread Major (Level 3) to locally Extreme (Level 4) HeatRisk from Friday, July 10, through Wednesday, July 15. This heat dome is expected to elevate fire risks and challenge monthly and all-time temperature records in states like Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
